It would’ve helped to put someone fresh up for election and not some Boomer that has already been President in the past and also President of the European Council. Not to say, that he is the worse option, but its a missed opportunity for sure.
Whatever happened to Trzaskowski?
main opposition party, Koalicja Obywatelska is no less populist but in the weird way. They promised tax cuts, increasing social spending and reducing budget deficit at the same time. How this is supposed to work no one knows
KO and Tusk are shit as well. I hope for good Lewica and Trzecia Droga results in coming elections.
Not with Tusk. Anyone but PIS, KO and Konfederacja will do.
>It has a more powerful military than neighboring Germany. And according to some projections, its GDP per capita is even set to overtake Britain’s by the end of the decade.
Yeah, that article’s author doesn’t know shit lol
What country spends the most money in Poland?
Well it’ll have to because the alternative
Just vote PIS and leave the country
paywall
Sure thing mister American journalist man, give us an option though. Like other than equally populist KO or meme-level fringes of Konfederacja and Lewica.
The ship has long sailed in Poland
Only if the political parties’ egos don’t get in the way.
As a Polish citizen. We’re gonna give our best to do it.
Curious to see if the continuing and exacerbated Russian threat will exacerbate the ascendency of authoritarian figures in Polish politics.
Was the ultra-nationalism and anti-Western stance of Russia something that some populists wished to emulate?
Will that clear failure of that style of populism diminish the popularity of such populist rhetoric?
Curious observer of politics in that region.
The greatest success of PiS is that they have convinced many people (as evidenced by the comments here) that there is no difference between them and KO.
It’s a sad state of affairs that modern Poland, that is after 1989, has failed to educate its citizens about the importance of the separation of powers, and the results of this are visible in our lack of outrage over what PiS have been doing, or indifference to any and every government scandal.
Like every regime, this one will also come to an end, and I cannot wait for the reckoning.
There is no going back. Not one single iota of hope. The mafia state that PiS has built has created an inertia of impunity to whoever comes after Kaczynski croaks. The criminals put in charge literal **cow milkers** as directors of departments in ministries responsible for digital matters, environmental protection, foreign affairs and thus lowered any credibility of the high institutions, nothing is left there to do, the bastards are there to stay and hire their entire dimwitted families that cannot even count to three. To understand the scope of the rot that is currently pervading Poland through and through all you need to know that the CEO of the biggest Polish company has worked in a car workshop and stole from it so that its owner spoke out on the bastard´s low skills and animalistic, low level behaviour. Poland right now is showing very beautifully how history goes on and on in circles and laughs at you and you being there in the middle of it have no agency left to change anything because the machine is rigged.
