3. And we want these things because they are the things that Ukraine wants.

   If tomorrow Ukraine said, “Russia is retreating from everywhere within Ukraine and in exchange we are okay with ceding them half of Crimea,” or whatever, supporting that would become the policy of the USA.

   Because Ukraine is our ally, by numerous treaties and agreements, and we support their sovereignty and their aims in war and peace.

   Emphasis on “their.”
