Trains feel like they should be vulnerable. They travel long Stretches across known paths. We have seen some pretty impressive feats of special forces with explosive drones far behind enemy lines. Why can’t drones just drop a few anti tank mines on the tracks somewhere and wait around for a train? What’s the mechanism that makes this not an obvious thing happening all the time?
If Ukraine can get all the rail under artillery fire and damage destroy Russian military cargo ships and bridges. A deal between North Korea and Putin would matter little.
well once the bridge is gone they would be needed for resupply would’nt they
Better sink more ships infront the bridge while they can still move
Ukrainian defense forces have adapted well to disrupting the supply chain of the nazi invaders. They’ve quickly learned how to disrupt distribution of enemy ammunition, equipment and personnel very efficiently and economically with donated resources. Slava Ukraini.
The trick would be to not damage the lines, but to cause a train derailment. Ideally you could design a mine/device that could be dropped on the rail path, that sits and then blows when activated via enough vibration/ EM response (+timer whatever).
If it can cause a big logistics problem, while being dropped remotely anywhere on the rail, at little risk and for cheap, then it can be used as a deterrent. Even if it forces trains to go slower so the crews can stop and clear the devices, it’s a win. The threat of these things alone could further reduce logistics capabilities of a rail based military.
My 2 cents
The destroyed ship is excellent, however losing the sub, which can carry cruise missiles is probably even better.
