Sveiki, draugi. I recently applied to RTU with the intent of beginning during the upcoming spring semester. I have a dual citizenship (U.S. and Latvian) and thought I’d apply with my Latvian passport because the cost difference between studying as a EU citizen vs any other citizen is quite significant (€2,900 vs €4,030). I applied and was notified that in order for me to take the courses in English I’d need to apply with literally any other passport except a Latvian one. If I were to use my Latvian passport, I’d be required to take the courses Latvišu valodā. I haven’t spoken in Latvian for 13 years so my Latvian is really broken at this point but I feel like I could pick it back up really quickly considering I understand it well when reading. However, I am not confident enough to take university courses in it so for that I’d rather do English. The whole thing boggles my mind. How does this make sense. I’ll attach a screenshot of the email.
