I’m not sure why this is news now; it could have been argued that the rise in foodbank usage was an unfavorable indicator of this happening years ago.
This nation has been completely destroyed by the conservatives. In fact, they are currently igniting the ashes. It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen, and it absolutely astounds me that 30% of people will still vote for them.
The GDP growth is only for the upper classes and foreign oligarchs. There is nothing trickling down to ordinary Brits – nothing at all. It’s all so obscene.
Aren’t poor people everywhere surviving and not living?
You seriously underrate how readily the average Brit will give in to requests for more. plan a revolution? No, I won’t bother to complain; I’ll just keep going to the food banks. The situation might be resolved when the next Tory prime minister deals with all the immigrants. Or they end up committing suicide because they are so hopeless and depressed. They won’t return the favor.
Scottish independence looks more promising the longer the conservatives hold power.
Keep Calm and Carry On has fucked up people’s reasoning on austerity and hard times.
60% of Germanys mean income is in poverty. 50% of UK is too. We’re all suffering since the 2008 recession, rise in fuel prices/inflation, and COVID.
Weirdly, the UK is outperforming every other European nation. Makes me think of that bible thing “Those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones”
