I’ve already mentioned these new types of turbines a few times in the past energy related threads. I’m pleasantly surprised that our country has concrete plans to go in that direction. I think it’s the right path to take. Renewables have been getting cheaper & better (and way, way larger in scale) for a really long time now. There’s several studies showing that investing in this technology earlier over late, will bring really good savings. This would increase our wind energy capacity to almost 6 gigawatt, which is quite a decent chunk of our total energy consumption.
Meanwhile in Lommel they are going to remove a bunch of wind turbines because birds might get hit by the blades.
Awesome, but at same time a bit sad. Still can’t recycle much of these blades.
