“recent events”… bruh.. you should have seen the racism that ‘fellow Greeks’ i.e. Pontians got in Cyprus when they came ehre in the 90s. being called a Pontian literally became an insult.
Me every time I post in this sub and get annoyed at my own surprise every time 😂
It’s funny because as a culture we avoid going anywhere by ourselves and want at least 2 others to accompany us
I don’t know if I would refer to Cypriots as racist. Conservative? Yes. But I wouldn’t go as far as saying they are racists. And this is from a Black African who spent 4 years living on the Island. Yes there were some less than pleasant experiences, but I think (and that’s a personal opinion) those experiences were coming from being not very exposed to different people. Sure there were some “οι χοραϊτες” (spelling) who were down right nasty. But in general, not racist. Maybe my experience is out dated as it was all in the early 2000s.
We’re a totally peaceful racist group
When i was growing up in CY 1998-2005 i encountered a lot of racism but then again, there are village idiots everywhere;
Guess what, I ended up serving in the national guard and still live here to this day, why? Because i am not arrogant to assume that 1 asshole represents an entire nation.
Wake up file.
Indeed we have a lot of racists in Cyprus. You can hear them race up and down the streets after midnight.
