>Borrell, who supervised the talks in Brussels, blamed the latest breakdown on Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s insistence that Serbia should essentially recognise his country before progress can be made on enforcing an agreement they reached in February.
Also for context Kosovo still didn’t fulfill their obligations from the last agreement (forming Serbian communities in north)
To answer your question: the only way for Kosovo to become universally recognised is to be recognised by Serbia first.
This is actually stupid move by Kurti. Vucic is pressured by West to recognise Kosovo, but since this is political suicide he tries to get anything he can from Kosovo so he could represent it as victory and stay in power. Kurti has little to lose and everything to gain
What’s Serbia plan to convince countries supporting Ukraine that it’s no longer pro-Russia? Eastern Europe will not vote them in until this happens.
Pardon my ignorance, but why does the EU want Serbia in ? A country that has shown itself to be very much loyal to Russia, especially its political class. Is Hungary not enough of an issue that they would want a second trojan horse in there ? Surely the EU can survive without Serbia’s market as it has until now ?
Weird that Serbian County is considered a country, huh. What’s next, Catalonia?
