  1. I’m a dog lover, I’ve had no less than 10 dogs at any given time in the house as I grew up (dad is a dog breeder). A dog that can turn a little lad’s arm into silly string without any particular reason should be destroyed. Every breed that is capable of doing so needs reviewing and new dog licensing needs to be applied. I’ve owned Pitbulls, terriers, shepherds, ridgebacks and mutts. None with violent tendencies, but I know for a fact that my Pitt’s would have ended me if they had the chance, they’re built like tanks. One even got run over by an HGV whilst chasing a cat beyond a field, he got a bruised leg.

Being around so many dogs growing up means that I realise that some are just predisposed to violent behaviour. This applies to all breeds of dogs, but, at least a jack russel can’t grab a toddler by the throat and kill it.

  2. Letting the owner off with a caution is just plain stupidity on the part of the police and is how these dog attacks are getting out of control. She’s let the dog out unsupervised and it’s injured someone. That needs to go up before the magistrates at the very least.

People need to learn that “well my poorly trained dog just slipped out, I had no idea” is not a valid excuse.
