  1. Romania still sucks for PV,but **surprisingly solar water heaters are flying off the shelves**

last year, when i visited my village in northern Romania and drove around, i could barely see 3-4 households with solar water heaters

this August i counted **over 30 households a**nd i didnt even drive through the entire village

**a solar water heater system here costs like 250 euros, and adding the instalation costs+ new boiler it comes to around 600 euros**

**you make your money back due to savings in less wood needed in 2-3 years**

(we plan to get one as well and my dad is asking around for installers but all have their hands full for the next months)

  2. Slovenia and Slovakia: At least he graph looks like our mountainside!

  3. Interesting, where is Germany with its 30% coal power usage?

Also, this article seems quite BS. First, why are they measuring only Jan-Jun of each year instead of full-year cycles? That doesn’t give anywhere close to a full picture.

Second, even if you look at the graphs they are providing – fossil energy usage is up in Croatia, and more or less the same as usual in Bulgaria, Cyprus, France, Hungary, Poland and a few other countries.

  4. This is not a good thing:

    1. as it increases Europe’s reliance on foreign gas (Russia, USA, Canada)
    2. This makes the EU less in control of its own affairs
    3. It increases everyones energy bills
    4. and leads to a less reliable energy supply

The problem with wind and solar as energy sources is that they are highly intermittent and this have poor energy yield. This means that the fossil fuel energy infrastructure and plants cannot be decommissioned and or turned off, as the reliable fossil fuel energy plants are dependable. This leads to more dirty energy being used, like Coal.. as we see in Germany.

With two systems running in parallel. We waste a tonne of energy and resources, have less disposable income as individuals and our industries become less competitive.

But hey, people like to see green energy on the rise as they think they are healing the planet. But this simply isn’t the case. We’re making it worse.

It’s far far better to invest in Hydro & Nuclear.

  5. I’m embarrassed.

But even the best government we had in the last decade (Draghi’s) did not put any pressure in increasing renewables deployment.

We are a bunch of idiots.

  6. I have to say I am quite impressed by french numbers.

Based on what angry Germans always post in this sub: “There is no progress towards renewables at all.” This is far from that in my point of view.
