I was just thinking that other day that what the high street really needs to rejuvenate it is…..more fried chicken shops.
Even without the politics I can’t see it being very successful, we already have KFC, Nandos & Leon anywhere that people want to eat chicken & that’s without considering that most burger places here do a chicken burger anyway.
We don’t need anymore American shite. I want to see chains from the east. Also I want 7-11.
Brexit happened and now our highstreets are full of more crap American retail. Fuck off.
More likely they simply could not get the footfall on their narrow product line up in somewhere like a Reading food court that will tend to cater for a pretty middle class palette.
I see Taco Bell are making a serious play for the UK market. They now have enough stores to drive volume but even then I have doubts about the long term. They may just be unique enough and seen as exotic enough to maintain a niche.
I don’t see Chick fit A really competing on chicken products in the UK without really bringing something “must have” to the market.
Would happily let them replace KFC in the UK. Every single branch I’ve tried in the last few years has been awful.
Chick-Fil-A burgers were pretty damned good when I had them last.
Chick Fil A and Popeyes absolutely beat KFC into a cocked hat. This is excellent news.
Looking forward to seeing the short-lived Lewisham Chick-fil-A that everyone tries once before returning to their trusty Morley’s.
People’s memories are definitely short enough for this to be successful. Which is depressing.
Pretty sure I’d rather find a good, independent chicken shop than go to an American import. And I don’t think North American fast food companies have quite the cachet they did in the 90s and 00s.
The long established ones are doing fine, but newer arrivals appear to be struggling. Tim Hortons don’t seem to be doing very well, at least in Greater Manchester – the one in Altrincham closed not long after opening, and the one in Stockport always looks dead. Krispy Kreme seem to have gone from trying to run their own shops to being stands in supermarkets.
I actually saw a Sbarro franchise in a petrol station the other day, and it looked incredibly sad – very dry looking pizzas that seemed like they’d been sitting out for several hours. That likely isn’t going to be around long.
‘Chick-Fil-A corporate now believes Britain is bigoted enough for their brand’ wow woo yay go us
why bother supporting a business like this when most highstreets already offer 5 chicken shops
