The smart person will put it in an investment fund and not touch it for years. The rainy day fund helped us get through Covid alot easier than some other countries. We will be hit with a pension crisis in the coming decade also. Making that money work for us, rather than spend it (which every government will want to do) is the smart thing but also the hard thing.
Norway are the example we should be aiming to replicate.

Just cut taxes. Obviously government is taking too much. While tax payers are suffering. HSE, RTE, Garda all are in doldrums. Too much unearned money in the hands of the government is destroying everything

The Navy/ defense forces in general could use injection of cash. Infrastructure in this country needs work, saying nothing about housing. High speed rail between Cork and Dublin would be a game changer.
Ireland seems not brave enough to return the surplus to tax payer. Some countries are doing this, try 20% tax payback to us. We are going to spend it anyway and government will get Vat
Spend €1bn on reports about building the Metro, then don’t build it.
