  1. It’s inevitable with these dogs, they are so prone to aggression and capable of so much violence if they do get set off as well

  2. I’m glad the right decision was eventually made. Just wish it had been a bit sooner…

  3. Finally some sensible laws being passed by the government.

  4. Great news, hopefully there are more plans to tackle why this has happened, otherwise we’ll be in the same position again in a few years time with a different bread.

  5. Too many people have had to die or receive life changing injuries before this has been decided, but I’m glad they actually had the balls to get there in the end.

  6. For all those about to comment/claim “It’s about the owners!” yes, partially, obviously.

But – absent humans, each dog has their own instincts/personality/behaviours. Whilst a human can train and curb such things, you aren’t brainwashing them. You aren’t 100% taking out any aggressive traits or behaviours no matter the breed – any dog could, possibly, turn at any moment. I fucking LOVE dogs and I do like the Bully breeds for their looks etc, they’re cool, but even so, they’re so physiologically built for aggression and combat.

Now – there’s an argument to be had as to *why* there’s so many incidents and for that I think you do need to look at the sorts of owners. But they aren’t solely responsible. If they had fucking spaniels or greyhounds there wouldn’t be these attacks? Then again not a lot of wannabe hardmen take on those breeds do they? No, they go for the known aggressive breeds and big dogs because they want to be known as the local guy with “that big dog”. There’s a reason – it’s because they’re known to be aggressive when pushed and that trigger can be different for different dogs. It’s only ever when a persons favourite breed is brought up that you get the knee-jerk protective and illogical “But, but, but it’s the owners! Not my little Diddums! He wouldn’t hurt a FLY!”

Cue that dog 6 months later savaging a baby, a stranger, the postman, the owner. Such a fucking shocker.

  7. Finally, shame it’s taken multiple people being injured or killed for the right decision to be made

  8. There was a guy on LBC the other day who said his XL Bully bit his young daughter on the face while he was sat with the dog on the sofa, and the fangs went through the kids top lip. She went over to hug the dog and the dog lunged at her.

He kept the dog somehow and said to James O’Brien the only thing he’s changed is that the dog isn’t allowed on the sofa anymore.

I don’t know if bans are the only things needed when stupid people are allowed dogs without any checks.

One guy on the same broadcast suggested that dogs of a certain weight should be banned for people living in flats and small homes, and with young kids.

  9. Look forward to the next grotesque creation the Bully nutjobs come up with to get around this. These dogs are vile and there is no justification for ownership in a civilised society.

I say this as a dog lover and whippet owner

  10. Inevitable. They’re worse than guns because guns don’t just randomly decide to run off and start eating a kid.

  11. This is fantastic news. These dogs are horrendous, vile creatures that kill and maim. Finally a step in the right direction. The last few years have seen countless attacks by this breed in the UK.

  12. Was entirely inevitable regardless of the practicalities, one of the biggest political open goals you’re likely to see this year. Easy, easy points for Sunak and team.

  13. It’s a step in the right direction but can we also do something about owners of dogs that attack people? Your dog can maul someone down and you get away with a caution.

  14. Hopefully this will lead to an eventual *paws* in dog articles

  15. Brilliant. They’ll be nothing on social media but this for weeks now
