  1. A move away from petroleum will only work with a tandem move towards alternative fuel sources.

    Make of this decision what you will but the above statement is true regardless.

  3. So how are we going to replace that 600MW plant then? Rejections are fine but there needs to be a concrete plan to replace it.

  4. I dont know enough about the specifics of this plant but decisions like this shouldn’t rest solely with an bord pleanala.

    They should be made at a strategic level taking account of other energy projects coning on stream / being decommissioned

  5. The Green Party have been against this from the beginning because of fracked gas.

    I’m not sure if they’re right or wrong.

    We’ll still need gas for a few decades whilst we phase out coal and peat and oil.

  6. Laughable.In the same week we agree a new gas supply agreement with the UK. What about security of supply. We are way too reliant on the UK for our energy needs.
