A move away from petroleum will only work with a tandem move towards alternative fuel sources.

So how are we going to replace that 600MW plant then? Rejections are fine but there needs to be a concrete plan to replace it.
I dont know enough about the specifics of this plant but decisions like this shouldn’t rest solely with an bord pleanala.
They should be made at a strategic level taking account of other energy projects coning on stream / being decommissioned
The Green Party have been against this from the beginning because of fracked gas.
I’m not sure if they’re right or wrong.
We’ll still need gas for a few decades whilst we phase out coal and peat and oil.

Can we label An Bord Pleanála as domestic terrorists?
Laughable.In the same week we agree a new gas supply agreement with the UK. What about security of supply. We are way too reliant on the UK for our energy needs.
