“The Ukrainian Armed Forces do not have anti-submarine aircraft like the P-8A Poseidon or P-3 Orion, let alone their own submarines. However, September 13, 2023 was another important day in history.”
Here’s What We Know:
Ukraine became the first country in history to be able to hit an enemy submarine using cruise missiles. The strike was believed to have been carried out by British Storm Shadow missiles or French SCALP EG missiles. Sky News reports that it was Storm Shadow that Ukraine used. The carriers of the cruise missiles are Su-24M frontline bombers.

Well… a submarine in a dry dock.
Anyhow great success!
It was an achievement for sure, but an “important day in history” is a stretch, a large one.
Yes, it’s the 1st time a cruise missile hit a sub (in port / dry dock – at that). However it’s akin to allied raids against U-Boat pens in WW2 & their resulting losses. So the feat was certainly worthy of celebration and even noteworthy but not That much more.
If I had a nickel for each submarine publicly destroyed this summer I would have two nickels.
Ukraine just did a good job at taking advantage of the fucking stupidity of russians..
Sounds like an achievement in hearts of iron
Well it was docked and still a major strategic significance.
Hope they get a few more or it deters russia a bit
Missiles are changing everything
Genius writer, submarine wasn’t at sea…
First submarine destroyed in combat since WW2.
Ummm…. Not taking this away from the UAF at all, but the sub was in dry dock. It’s the first sub to be hit by cruise missiles, full stop. You don’t need RC-130, P-3 or P-8 aircraft, sonar or sophisticated detection capabilities when it’s stationary in port…
The Allies destroyed a number of Nazi submarines in their pens during WW2…
Maybe that’s why russia always bombs marketplaces.
they are trying to destroy sub sandwich shops.
