What a fucking waste of everyone, especially the Gardais time. Not sure what this Judge is going after this for? (unsure how it works, does he decide?)
Great excuse for the gardai do. Yeah sorry you got robbed and beaten up in the middle of the day on grafton Street but we where busy arresting people who did their tv license.
Great..so here’s what’ll happen if they refuse to pay the fine. They’ll be processed in and released almost immediately. If they hold their ground it’ll just clog up the prison system. I knew a guy from Kerry, since deceased, who wouldn’t pay due to to section 31. Got done something like 50 times and barely spent a full day in prison…cost the State a fucking fortune though…
Judge Halpin said he was directing the Courts Service to contact the Garda Commissioner and request him to prioritise executing these bench warrants “as a matter of urgency”.
Let’s go to work boys – code red
Cue the next ad campaign:
Young chap sitting in living room: “I only said I wouldn’t pay the license fee because everyone else was, I didn’t even tell others not to pay it.
Gardaí sitting across from him: “Its a crime, and that’s why we’re here and not out catching real crooks.”
So the legal systems priority is to go after people who don’t want to give money to a corrupt organisation??
> In his opening remarks at Dublin District’s Court on Friday, Judge Anthony Halpin added that he wanted Garda Commissioner Drew Harris to prioritise the warrants issued for those who deliberately evade their cases
Garda will prioritise for sure … I mean what else do they have going on? There’s only so much homeless on Henry street you can harass.
Drugs rampant, antisocial behaviour at an all time high, focus on TV licenses…. 👍
Gardai resources are already stretched thin. They must focus on more pressing matters, such as cannabis possession, insurance checkpoints, protecting BoI ATMs, enforcement of tattoo and facial hair standards and canceling 999 calls
I’m afraid to even turn on my TV anymore i just press my cheek to the screen and quietly hum the friends theme tune
