Im as left and europeanist as one can be and my opinion on the issue of migration is that europeans do not have an exclusive right to Europe – or that they cant justify having one even through democratic means – BUT, much of the far right rise has to do with the piss poor burgeois “democratic” processes we have here by which people have absolutely no say when it comes to migration. And if people can’t have direct democratic control over this and have to rely on the “trust me bro” of representative governance they will, logically, gravitate towards hard right parties, even if they dont agree with 80% of what they say (and then they get called X Y Z for it polarising the thing even more and radicalising who wasnt radical in the first place).

    This is, in a great part, a consequence of democratic deficits.
