Passenger train lines in the United States vs Europe.

  1. Don’t worry, the automobile industry has managed to convince us to buy big-ass SUVs too and as of this year, they are the most sold cars here in Germany. Customers cite “a feeling of security” and “empowerment” as the reasons. Thank you, USA.

  2. Oh yes , I really like how you present nordic countries in this map.

  3. To be fair, the us mostly use trains for freight, not passengers, while europe is the opposite.

(With some exceptions like swiss doing both)

  4. Have you also seen the school shooting comparison? They can be good at something, at least…

  5. I know the condition in Croatia, and it looks like all train lines are mapped here, but several don’t have passenger transport. I’ll bet the Europe map is pretty wrong here.

  6. Anyway, when it comes to night trains, Europe sucks about as much as the US, especially considering prices.

Russia, Ukraine and Belarus in a league of its own in terms of passenger rail.

  7. I know the US has terrible passenger train lines. I know it’s the automotive industries fault. But The US is many times larger and flights are cheap.

  8. As if Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and Dakotas should have as dense railroad network as Germany.

  9. This is a bit misleading because it could suggest that US lacks train lines. It doesn’t, US has extremely dense train network, it’s just majority cargo because Americans use personal cars for short travel distances and airplanes for long ones. Trains don’t have any advantages in either category except for a very fine small section of the country in the northeast where travel by car is problematic and distances are short enough not to justify a flight. Essentially, Boston- NYC- Philadelphia-DC corridor

  10. Now if only we could have interlinked all railroads to use the same voltage and make Spain give up their broader railways that other European trains can’t use.

In addition, connect all European capitals to one another with high-speed trains that do not have 25-30 stops in between Amsterdam and Berlin.

  11. Yes it’s true but then again much of the usa isn’t built on top of one another

  12. Developed continent with average 100iq vs undeveloped continent its average of 70iq 🤣 and guys I thought London was Europe (as I was once informed by my colleague at work)

  13. Ok i get why ther are not many cosst to coast lines, its a huge country, but why individual states and metro areas do t have proper train systems is insane.

  14. To be fair the population density of Europe is much higher then the USA still doesn’t excuse the lack of rail on the eastern coast of the USA but rail through kilmoters of nothing that is the central USA isn’t the most efficient.
