According to data published by the Office for National Statistics, it’s estimated that in 2022, there were 271,519 burglaries – that’s 744 per day, or one every 116 seconds.

According to the ministry of justice reoffending stats published July 2023; Proven reoffending rates by adults stands at 49.9% where the offence was theft. This is almost double any other type of offence.

Reoffending rates overall by previous repeat offenders with 11+ previous offences stands at 41.4%

This petition asks for a new approach to be taken for multiple reoffenders for theft; https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/641634

Theft is a very personal crime and can make the victims feel very vulnerable.

We need to give the police more time to provide value and less time spent focussing on a few individuals.

Please sign and share this petition if you agree – at 10k signatures the government have to respond.

  1. Reality is most people that burgle have shit lives and zero prospects, only made worse once they’ve been to prison. Straight back to the shitty area, drugs and group of people before. Lots of people in prison are broken humans, not all, but a lot of them.

    This not excusing them.

We won’t fix things until we can get people to turn their lives around with support.

But there’s not enough money put into prisons or in support once they’re out. Tory cunts, sorry cuts. I’ve had three generations of prison officers in my family, the last of which retired a few years ago. They’ve all said the same thing.

If you want a laugh, look at the wages for new PO’s as well, you can earn more in Aldi.
