I have letters from my Opa to my Oma from the early 1940s. According to my father, the writing is an old style and even my dad can’t read most of it. I live in Ontario, Canada. Any advice on how to get it translated?

I’m not an expert for writing, but I am pretty sure this is old German “Sütterlin” handwriting taught in Germany in the early 20th century. So you will need somebody who knows Sütterlin or who is willing to put the work in to decipher it by using some help of a Sütterlin alphabet although not being able to write or read Sütterlin. I am not even able to fully decipher the first sentence, only a general hint of what the sentence is about. Sütterlin hasn’t been regularly taught in school for many decades, so I think there are nearly no people left who learnt it in school, only a few hobbyists and language freaks who still know it.
However /r/kurrent does have some people who know it. I would ask there. At least the handwriting in Sütterlin is pretty neat and commendable as far as I can tell, so somebody who knows Sütterlin will be able to read this letter easily.
