Suicide rates have fallen significantly in most developed countries in the past 20 years, with the notable exception of US and South Korea. US has now a higher suicide rate than all EU countries except Latvia and Lithuania

  1. i wonder if the data for US isnt a bit overstated due to many accidental drug overdoses being classified as suicides(and drug overdoses have skyrocketed in US in the past decade)

that being said, while many medical inovations( including psychiatric treatments and therapies) come from the US,their actual accesibility for uninsured people has been lagging,so wouldnt be surprised if actual suicide rates are increasing

  2. Awesome, now show them for the last 3-4 years since, it probably looks like a steep climb

  3. Eyy, happy for japan! They’re doing a lot better it seems.

  4. The american experience can best be described as trying to dodge mass shooters while deciding if you should be able to eat a full breakfast in the morning or fill up your gas tank.

  5. I routinely trash the state of mental healthcare in France, and the general attitude towards mental illness, but it seems we’re progressing well.

  6. > except Latvia and Lithuania

    Not for long

    The US: 2001 – ~~11,8~~ 10,7 | 2022 – 14,9

    Lithuania: 2001 – 45 | 2022 – 18,6

  7. It’s interesting how low down the UK is and how the country seems to have stayed on more or less the same level throughout these years. I wonder why that is? Tea and crumpets?

  8. Yet another piece of evidence of which side of the Channel comes out on top. 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔👑👑👑👑👑

  9. I wonder how much of this is due to the MSM acting to make nose to nose horse races in elections, the GOP adopting a political policy of hate and fear to get votes and the NRA driving gun ownership. With suicide in other countries there may be those who attempt it but fail and then don’t try again but in the USA gun ownership makes it pretty fail proof. The GOP and NRA are destroying this country.

  10. But seriously what is going on in Latvia and Lithuania? Life shouldn’t be that bad there..
