Random thought here but thinking back to “Sachs-gate” so many people like defended him and his actions as some great comedic act of free speech
I’m glad attitudes have changed where shouting abuse at an old man and slut shaming his granddaughter is not seen as something admirable
“We’ve looked into it and aaaaaaaaaaactually what do you know, we’ve found a massive file of complaints against the guy. Must’ve slipped down the sofa. Soz!”
Such an anti-establishment move to get into a position of power and influence then to use it for the purposes of sexual abuse
Wtf? Why is this not Police looking into possible criminality?
If it was an open secret then a lot of media should be looking into how they handled it. Back when he was a leftie crank his endorsement was highly sought after. Miliband interviewed with him and others would regularly share platforms.
Now he was being platformed by GB News and right wing media. Either it was not an “open secret” or media were willing to ignore it for his “star power”.
Just like they looked in to what Saville was up to for decades and covered it up
I have two thoughts:
A) People will read too much into this. The BBC has to say something, and the Guardian wants to write a follow-up article. You need to have a headline so they chose this. Much like this morning it was the quote from Cleverley
B) despite what I said above, It feels very BBC to have an existential panic about a person you sacked for editorial breaches 15 years ago.
