For each story like this published there must be hundreds, if not thousands more that happen. It’s a horrific new normal that people in hospitals are at risk of death due not to whatever illness brought them in, but a simple lack of care.
That’s not to say its necessarily any nurses fault though. They’re overworked, exhausted and stretched very thin. In an environment where half of your day is hearing various beeps from machines, its probably all too easy to forget about one patient or not take it as seriously as you should.
