  1. I doubt it, personally. The question asks if people think it’ll happen, not if they support it. I imagine this has a lot to do with the clusterfuck that is Stormont.

  2. Question about the orthography: why is the verb in Irish capitalised?

  3. 10 years is shorter than people think. I think we’d need to be seriously looking at it right now for it to be realistic in a decade.

It would be years of planning for the vote, let alone the aftermath.

  4. I would love a united Ireland but at the moment we can’t even house people in the south.

  5. If Ireland reunites, I want Corsica back from France, but I am ready to give South Tyrol back to Austria.

  6. Polls like these often have a somewhat implied blurred line between “think/believe/hope/wish for”. I sincerely doubt 46% would really claim they consider that to be the most likely scenario, especially given the 10 year timeframe, but it’s of course fair and square to hope for it.

  7. This certainly seems a bit ambitious given only 33% of Northern Irelands population identified as being Irish in the 2021 census.

  8. But Lt. Commander Data said that Irish reunification will happen in 2024.
