In what has been an increasing occurrence, there have been videos or first hand accounts from Russians of their own soldiers seemingly intentionally firing artillery at them.

In this case, the final remaining members of the now eliminated Russuan 72nd Mechanized were fired upon by their own artillery while they were surrendering.

The Russian 72nd was tasked with defending Andriivka, and had a large tunnel base in a berm under the railroad. The base withstood artillery strikes, and helped the force defend the railroad and the village.

However, their supplies were cut off when the Ukrainian 3rd assault Brigade used a pincer movement to encircle the Russian 72nd mechanized Brigade, and as a result of their attack, they eliminated all of the higher ranking members of the brigade, a significant amount of vehicles, as well most of the Infantry.

After the battle, the Ukrainian commander used a drone to tell the remaining members of the 72nd that they would have 10 minutes to surrender before the final attack would be made.

The only deployed members of the Russian 72nd who are alive now, are the Russians who surrendered during this time.

This alleged artillery strike of the Russians on the very last remnants of the 72nd means that the Russian MOD would rather have the entire Russian 72nd be entirely eliminated, than have the last remaining survivors be captured.

  1. So… the plan isn’t just to hold a gun to their heads, it’s to point freakin artillery at them and make them keep fighting?….
