Austria is a major transit hub. I dont think he realises how much that would hurt the entire EU.

And not a single word about illegal migration in Europe. Austria is surrounded by Schengen countries, yet last year there were 112.000 asylum request from illegal immigrants from Africa and the Middle East in Austria. They didnot suddenly appear in middle of Europe by themselves. Yet checking trucks and vans at the border is criticized.
Austria: “Schengen is broken, we shouldn’t accept new countries until the immigration problem is fixed.”
Also Austria: lets Croatia into Schengen with no concerns.
The cognitive dissonance is on next level here..
