  1. Excerpt:

    > Russia has likely redeployed at least five airborne regiments to the area of Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia Oblast to reinforce the “hard-pressed” 58th Combined Arms Army, the U.K. Defense Ministry reported on Sept. 18.
    >
    > “At full strength, such a force should constitute around 10,000 elite paratroopers,” the ministry wrote in its latest intelligence update. “However, almost all units are highly likely dramatically under strength.”
    >
    > The personnel were drawn from the 7th and 76th divisions of Russia’s Airborne Troops, also known as VDV, according to the update.
    >
    > The U.K. defense ministry said that the VDV leadership would most likely consider the current situation “highly unsatisfactory.”
    >
    > “Throughout the war, Russian commanders have attempted to regenerate the airborne forces as a highly mobile, striking force for offensive operations. Once again, they are being used as line infantry to augment over-stretched ground forces,” the report concludes.

  2. So we finally can go revisit the cringey VDV music video?

  3. #Looks like meat’s back on the menu boys!
    -Starving orcs greeting the VDV

  4. Adequate decision: paratroopers are obviously useless in this war but ВДВ are well trained as sturm soldiers. So they could be a problem for us.

  5. Their airborne troops will be ineffective. I highly doubt they can find 10000 men capable of hitting a barn from the inside , let alone fight.

  6. At some point, the little Ruzzian boy will run out of fingers to plug holes in the dike.

  7. It’s one thing deploying infantry but it’s another when it comes to logistics.
    Food, fuel, ammo, etc.

All are going to be very noticeable by satellite and under fire control.

  8. They are running out of airborne officers – now mostly used are fresh lieutenants or old mobilized officers. There were even privates promoted to lieutenants, to be used as commanders. My information is from the recent obituaries.

  9. Don’t cry, Ukraine can make them airborne again.

  10. From the article:

    >The U.K. defense ministry said that the VDV leadership would most likely consider the current situation “highly unsatisfactory.”

    Excellent understatement
