  1. That’s horrific. 15 months behind bars for throwing an unconscious woman into the back of a van, sexually assaulting her and dumping her half naked in a driveway.

The lads who found her hours later thought she was dead, and she might well have been for all that piece of shit cared.

  2. What a pathetic sentence. This is just one of the reasons, in a long list of reasons, as to why victims don’t come forward.

Imagine the trauma of going through the trial, where historically, the victim is put on trial and the perpetrator protected at all costs, only for him to get a measly 24 months.

I can’t believe that the misogynistic Judge considered the fact that he comes from a respectable and responsible family to be a mitigating factor. The family he comes from has no bearing on the crime this sex offender chose to commit.

Character references shouldn’t be allowed. What would Mickey Harte know about how this man acts behind closed doors? It’s abusers’ modus operandi to present the persona of being an upstanding pillar of the community in public, whilst being an abuser behind closed doors. It’s how they get away with their abuse for so long. Aside from this fact, a character reference has no bearing on the crime he committed. Convict and pass sentence based on his crime, not on the bias of his friend.
