Apparently problems with “Leopard” delivery
According to information from the news magazine “Der Spiegel”, there are significant problems with the delivery of German “Leopard 1A5” tanks to Ukraine.
Accordingly, a few days ago Kiev refused to transfer a tranche of ten Leopard tanks of the type.Ukraine reported to the special staff in the Berlin Ministry of Defense that the weapon systems were in significant need of repair. Since there are neither trained technicians nor spare parts, it makes no sense to move the tanks to Ukraine.A team from the Federal Ministry of Defense has now inspected the Leopard tanks in Poland.
According to “Spiegel” information, it was found that the tanks had become so worn out during the training of Ukrainian soldiers in Germany in the past few weeks that they needed to be repaired.
Great help from partners! Amazing! So much promised and a bunch of that can’t even be delivered properly.

Old Tanks dragged out of long term storage and used heavily for training require repair, well colour me surprised. not really sure this is actual news Rheinmetall engineers will assess what needs repaired and they will be brought up to standard.
Why not accept them and use them for maintenance training?
Leopard 1s are old tech anyways.
To be fair, it sounds like someone high up in the chain of command jumped the gun and ordered the tanks to be shipped right after the training, without thinking of/ignoring the maintenance situation.
Rheinmetall will propably have it all sorted out in a couple of weeks, and they’re good to go.
This is not an issue. 10 tanks out of how many?

The true is that Germany is doing good job. Let’s not forget.
These countries need to send good top of the line equipment. If they’re expecting Ukraine to continue doing the dirty work that they won’t do, don’t send crap just so the the EU would compensate them for it.
