Is it no longer safe to threaten people with hammers in public? Cops are out of control.
Reminds of that story about the Australian policeman who tasered a 90 year old Diddy. I’m not sure if this is evidence of increasing police brutality and overreach, or evidence that police are increasingly ranked by a bunch of pussies?
Absolutely not, she was weaponised and out of control. The officer did the right thing.
Ridiculous. So a policeman who was trying to protect a member of the public will be sacked and yet they continue to protect predators? The police in this country is a joke
The article says she threatened a woman. The kids lawyers said she wasnt threatening. So which is it?
Public: *Can’t control a kid threatening people with weapons*
Police: *Deals with the situation in a non lethal manner*
Public: “How could you!!”
So
1) The girl was not hurt and only went to hospital as a precaution
2) the police’s initial view was there was no misconduct
3) The CPS reviewed the evidence deciding there was not enough to charge
4) there was a victims right to review where it was again upheld that CPS were right not to charge
It seems a bit of an overreach by the IOPC to be pursuing this doggedly? I get that it’s 10 year old and obviously if there’s footage it could be a a bad watch if they haven’t tried to calm them down / multiple options to drop it, but what’s the alternative?
Spraying someone in the eyes with a burning substance who is carrying a sharp item
Using a baton on a child
Or then going in to try and wrestle a sharp item off of them, putting yourself and them at risk from being cut by the point of the blade or the sharp edge ?
I can genuinely only imagine if the IOPC are pushing this, it’s because they’ve made a lax attempt in communicating for the child to drop the shears because otherwise it’s a bit of catch 22. Physically fight then, baton, spray or taser?
I an so thankful I am not in that sort of role
Pathetic
Who would be a cop nowadays, when you get thrown under the bus,
You can’t use shears and a hammer at the same time.
I’m kinda confused as to what the better option was? Two foot tackle? I would never want to hurt a 10 year old but they’re pretty fragile and I’d rather a cop use non lethal force like a taser than give them the people’s elbow or go in swinging with the old left, right, g’night
Seems like a civil matter don’t know why the cops are even getting involved /s
“although my client was ‘armed’ with the shears, there was no suggestion that she was actively seeking to attack anyone with them”.
Well your honour. Yes I was in the street with a sword held to somones throat, but there’s no suggestion I was seeking to attack or injure anyone.
Should’ve run over her in his pig car. Everyone knows if you wanna get away wit shit, do it in a car
that’s not really an optimal loadout tbh, you’ll be fat rolling for starters
Year of headlines about police officers being allowed to continue working despite allegations of serial rapes, sexual assaults and other misconduct.
Officer is investigated for taser use.
Commenters: Who’d be a copper nowadays? You can’t do anything without being investigated.
