  11. Well, no matter who is in the government of Hungary, Budapest is an old and beautiful city. Great food, too. If that is all that it takes, let’s send them both.

  12. And how will that be beneficial for Hungary, Orban, or anyone? Or it is just something he can show to his voters that he “won”?

  14. No they don’t, they are waiting for the OK for Erdogan. This is just theatre to gain political points, show to the Hungarian people that Orbán is strong and full of fighting spirit (against his own allies) and to make time. Should the demand be met, then it is a win and new ones will be made and should the demand be denied, it will be used as an excuse to delay the accession further (but never outright deny it).

    Orbán hasn’t been chummy with just Russia, he has been heavily courting Turkey as well. Including signing up for more gas deals from there (or rather, more from Russia through Turkey).
