The safest place the morons involved can be right now, is police custody.
That’s gotta be one of the biggest seizures ever
Time for a party in the Dail?
147 million on that cargo ship, you say?
I see The Young Offenders have ran out of ideas again and went back to what gave them success….
They said we were getting a storm but they never said anything about snow…
Imagine the tax that could be made off that
What a story, 157 million Euro, an Iranian, a fleeing ship, a trawler stuck.
given the wat street value is overestimated thats about two baggies
In fairness, the recent coverage of the Russian ships lingering along the south western coastline, over the undersea cable networks, really highlighted the overall paultry security and patrolling of our waters so Christ only knows how long these kinds of shipments have been happening.
Great to see a bulk of the drug that’s causing a lot of the violence and social issues simply removed from the market but I’m guessing there’s gonna be a surge of some dodgy heads suddenly taking up beach walking, sea cave exploration, fishing and sailing in the hope of finding a stray bale or two.
Twill be like “the Goonies” around the southern coast for a while.😁

We’ve had bigger seizures than that
€450m in 2007 … Mizen Head
€400m in 2008 ..,..off Cork coast
The mad part is, losses even this big, are figured into the cost of business at the top end. This is just one shipment lost. There’s hundreds and probably thousands a year that get through to Europe no problem.
€157 million is not to be sniffed at
Sky News reporting 2,253 kg of coke, straight some South America.
Garda esimtating the value at 157 million, so price per gram is somewhere around €70 a G.
By garda estimates, you can get a gram of flake for the same price as an eight of weed.

But did Mark, Luke and John get through? Asking for a friend.
Prices bound to skyrocket now and families already struggling. Those on the bag will be in for a lean Christmas this year… lean lean lean…
That’s a 1/6th of a billion lads…
Authorities round the world were way out of touch back then and vastly over exaggerated the street values.
They’ve gone the other way and underestimated this lot.
I wonder if seizures like this could have a negative impact in the long run. Think about it, if actual product is seized, the cartels are going to start cutting what they have more. Throw in some fentanyl that can mimic high-quality coke and you’ve a recipe for more deaths.
We did it guys!! War on drugs won!! What a waste of time, embarrassing stuff celebrating this
If that other boat didn’t come a cropper, I wonder would they have suspected this boat was filled to the gills with drugs.
Maybe it belongs to the owner of Nottingham Forest FC?
First I heard it mentioned on the news there of their being 25 crew on board. I assumed it was 3 as that was the number being mentioned in custody last night. That was likely in relation to the trawler only.
I guess the craic won’t be mighty in cork this weekend
There goes my christmas lads
