  1. Sadly, this is true. Our “conservative” party is deeply influenced by outside money and makes us an unreliable partner currently. If we can manage to weather the right wing/autocratic storm then we could be counted on again.

  2. This interview is surprisingly very informative. I agree with most/all points he discusses. Now 🇫🇷 let’s support more 🇺🇦 !

  3. Europe is too reliant on american army. It was too relying on russian gas and now getting too relying on china’s solar panels and electric cars prodiction. What appeared as a good idea of cutting costs turned into more costs down the stream. And the worse is that regular folk beared that cost. Europe wake up. It’s time to make decisions beyond immediate monetary advantage.

  4. Yes, we have to absolutely be ready to do that and there’s no better way than delivering more weapons now!

Send Ukraine all they need, Taurus, all tanks. Start producing 1 Million shells per Month. Now! Not just once it’s too late.

  5. No shit. At the end of the day, we can’t rely on the US with our own security at least some of the time, so how could we rely on them for the security of a state not even in NATO?

Of course, the answer to the issue of how to achieve this strategic independence lies in a common and joint foreign and defence policy, and additional, common military forces. (Sadly, that’s unlikely to be popular with the member states political elites.)

  6. This should not come as a surprise, and should be a priority to be honest. These discussions have been happening since the 2016 US election. It does not benefit Europe, or the US for that matter, for the EU to be dependent on the US for defense. It made sense at a time when half of Europe needed support to stand against the other half of Europe, who were dominated and supported by the Soviet Union.

  7. How about this – “Europe needs to generally be in a situation where it can help itself without the US.”

  8. Yeah they need to wake the fuck up. You can see the writing on the wall, the US is getting unsustainably stupid.

  9. It is not for France only. All of Europe : FR, DE, UK, IT, NL is obvious. But not them alone. All of Europe : it’s wealthiest nations – Norway, Liz, Swiss… Turkey, Sweden… and large economies beyond beyond : NK, Japan, Aus, NZ… all have to shoulder the load with measures… an EU/UK/EEA/Turk lend lease arrangement to support financially ; with specific manufacturing arrangements ramp up of Rhinemetal, Swedish manufacturers, Czech, BAe to win this.. start now : not to depend on US umbrella.

  10. France has defended this idea literally forever.
Before de Gaulle, and after de Gaulle.

And they always received very little support from their European friends. Even today, when we see that all of Europe has bought the F35.

There are far too many European politicians sold to the US
