> Nearly a third of officers at high-security prisons have fewer than three years of experience, official figures show, fuelling concerns about safety and “grooming” of staff by the most dangerous criminals in the country.
I think what that mainly tells you is no one thinks it is a good career.
Are there any prison abolitionists here? I’d love to hear from you.
Happened to a friend of mine. I don’t know the full story so whether she was groomed before getting the job or after, but within 12 months she was on the inside herself for smuggling.
The daughter of a friend of mine has just turned 18 and has applied to work in the local prison. I just cannot even begin to understand it. It’s known to be a bad prison, too, housing *the worst.*
Honestly I wouldn’t do the job for less than a million net per year.
