And it’s impossible to open this part of the window, apparently.

  1. There’s gaps on the seal of the outer window to prevent the window fogging up.

And it can be opened. Those metal shields on the frame of it have locks, you just need an extra handle to turn them.

  2. The outside window is never completely airtight. They get in through there. It seems to be openable though. Those metallic things have a square hole inside them which can be turned to open the window

  3. Have no fear. That is a seasonal problem and pretty easy to fix.

When the weather gets colder in the fall the flies look for a place to hibernate. They squeeze through the small caps in the insulators from the outside. So those MFs are not dead even if they appear so. They are just hibernating. What you need to do is open the inside window pane and scoop up them into garbage or vacuum them AND get them out of your apartment ASAP. Because they will wake up in the warmth and you don’t want that.

And it is not impossible to open the window. Because in the picture you can see the hole on the right where the window is opened. It is covered with a cover plate. Remove the cover plate that swings around and insert the window opener which you should have in your apartment. Should you not have one then you can get one from your huoltoyhtiö by just telling your apartment lacks one.
