Went to muse last night (they were phenomenal) but unfortunately thos was my view for the majority of the gig from the seated section.
The lady in front stood (most of the time on her own) for 70% of the songs.
What are peoples thoughts on this kind of behaviour?
I dont mind people standing towards the end of a gig when the band are closing out strong but standing for the majority of the gig is completely obnoxious.
Also what’s the solution here? Zero tolerance venue polic? Separate Seating sections? (like a standing seating section) Venue issued single shot tranquilliser guns for everyone in the seated section?

Seating area doesn’t mean you have to sit for the whole thing. I’ve been in the seating area for loads of gigs like The Prodigy and even Rick Astley and the place was jumping. Rick Astley was especially hilarious because the place was just aul ones going nuts. It looks like she’s just enjoying the gig tbh. I do get you might find it annoying but that goes hand in hand with going to public events.
Why is there a disembodied forearm hovering in front of your man’s head?
I hear you. It pisses me off to end *but* by the same token at times I want to get up and dance about etc. So really it’s a thing about how maybe she just has the same desire at a different point. I think you get this as you say you mind the stand at the end…well maybe she just gets as much enjoyment from the rest of it. So yeah, I hate it, but like she doesn’t…am I so right that I get to have my preference win out? I don’t think so.
Look, it’s shit if you want to sit and I hate it too, but I think you just have to know and make peace with the fact this can and often happens.
It’s probably not a calculated insult to you, but someone who just likes what’s going on. How it effects you and your enjoyment is kinda down to how you chose to process it.
It’s trite etc but there’s always lemonade to be made when some cunt won’t sit down.
You can always rob her coat
It’s Muse. Hardly a sit down gig. It’s a rock show, not Other Voices.
Went to a gig once in the Cork Opera House. Gig was great but the performer was pissed that everyone was sitting down. Band tried to get people to stand up. There was no encore. Everyone enjoyed the gig but the singer didn’t feel that way.
Did you have a supermassive blocked show?
This post isn’t very rock and roll
Saw some pics from the gig and i was surprised at how old everyone was.
Then I realised how old I am.
Then I got sad.
God forbid someone would want to dance at a rock concert
Everyone should be standing , dancing , head banging, having fun who sits down at a rock concert she was dead right
Went to see Muse in The Olympia many many years ago
Was in the seating area in The Circle.
From the first note to the last…..everyone was standing
It was the best gig I’ve ever been to.
I’ve been recently diagnosed with a degenerative spinal condition, I’m at home recovering from a procedure that if it doesn’t work means I’ll have to get another massive one done that will limit my movement for the rest of my life, not enough to put me in a wheelchair but enough to leave me with continuous chronic pain. Gigs are a massive part of my social life, huge in fact. Year on year for the past 21 years I’d say I average about one a month. Festivals will probably be something I’ll never be able to go to ever again as long periods of standing are most definitely not recommended for my condition regardless of the outcomes. Seated tickets will probably be something I’ll reluctantly have to get if I want to go to gigs in the future, outdoor gigs may be off the cards for me forever. If you’ve got a seated ticket for a gig sit the fuck down. That’s the point of a seated ticket. I’m sure it’s shite that you didn’t get the standing ticket you wanted but sit back and take in the show.
Ask nicely twice, then flying kick to the back if the stay standing
You went to Muse to sit down?
Depends on the place. If it’s the 3 arena or somewhere big it’s generally not a problem.
But a smaller more enclosed place then yeah it’s bad form.
Did you ask her to sit down?
Either get a ticket for the standing area or sit the fuck down. Selfish behaviour
The gig was class.
You never know why someone’s sitting. The second you stand everyone behind you has to too. Don’t be an inconsiderate twat.
I was near the back and the people near the wall were standing but the gig was so good that everyone was up at the end. I was in the middle of my row so I didn’t do it until the lads behind me were standing too
My Mam went to see Paul Heaton earlier this year and was in the seated section, she said she saw some young wan standing and dancing when the old wan behind her hit her an unreal thump and told her to sit down.
It’s a concert, do you expect people to sit down like they’re at a cinema ?
Jealous! Didn’t even know they were playing here. Seen the drones tour when they came, fucking amazing.
Surprised the staff didn’t come over to tell her to sit down, any gigs I’ve been at like that they are all over people standing in the sitting section.
Add a really effective set of earplugs and that would be the best way to go to a Muse gig
Seated concerts make no sense to me. Is dancing not allowed anymore?

Great gig. A little bollix in front of us wouldn’t stop talking during the early songs which I don’t understand because you’ve paid good money to listen to the band so why you wouldn’t just enjoy the music? I could have asked him to quiet down but he had a big buddy with him for backup and I only had my Mrs.
Muse aren’t exactly a sit down band, not a lot of chill out and listen songs in their sets. It all has to do with who you are seeing and what type of music it is. Eg Hozier everyone was sitting no problem but at bands like Paramore, they will actively get the seated sections standing and moving.
Stand up?
It’s completely acceptable for a Muse gig. Most bands I’ve seen in the 3 arena encourage the seated section to stand. Most recently the national last Thursday so same aged audience.
