If we do not intervene, those ships will become the largest emitters in Flanders. By 2030, they could even account for as much as 40% of total nitrogen oxide emissions.

After all, they penetrate deep into our lungs and cause respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. They also play an important role in the formation of ozone, which also causes respiratory problems.
