I would like to ask if someone has an experience with a car registration in Belgium received as a gift from abroad?
Situation: My brother wants to give me as a (wedding) gift a second hand car registered on his name in other EU state where he lives. I live in Belgium. How is it the easiest to register the car in my name in Belgium? Does he, as a current owner, need to be physically present? Did someone go through it and have experience?
Can this be done as a movable property gift ([hangift](https://www.vlaanderen.be/geld-en-goederen-schenken#schenking-van-roerende-goederen)) without paying gift tax?
I will call FPS Mobility and Transport tomorrow, but I would like to hear from you as personal experience is invaluable (and people in the institutions not often present you all options, nor they always agree between themselves). Thanks.
