    ‘Nobody wants to do the job’ answers both of the pending comments in all their guises.

  2. The statistics published by the government at the start of Sept and not mentioned in this article showed that 8 prisons (Leeds, Durham, Wandsworth, Lincoln, Preston, Bedford, Leicester and Doncaster) are operating at over 150% capacity, with the highest – Leeds – at 173%.

  3. But I thought it was because the judges are too woke!

    As with a lot of things, this is down to the government refusing to spend any money if they can at all avoid it.

  4. The issue is it’s just an expenditure so the government doesn’t want to commit.

    Perhaps one solution would be to make it profitable with blood and plasma donations, drug trials, etc.

    Party of literally allowing criminals to walk the streets because they’re too cheap to invest in this country properly.
