BBC News: Russia denies weaponising energy amid Europe gas crisis

  1. This is what happens when silly EU tries to ban coal and nuclear energy. Of course, this will lead to increased demand for gas, so cheap gas is a thing of the past. If we had other sources of energy as options, there would be more competition and gas prices would be lower. This is what you get when a bunch of burocratic morons try to impose communist strategy on free market also known as the green deal, or soon fit for 55, aka lots of people will have to freeze to death, so that people like Timmermans can make their point.

  2. I’m all for blaming Russia if the wind changes direction but this is a mess of our own making. You can’t just keep taking fossil power generation offline then complain when you have low renewable output and at the same time have increasing demand. Reality has bit us in the ass.

  3. EU really has some bloody nerve. The EU spent years discouraging long term contracts with Russia in favour of trade at spot prices. It’s a bit rich to be complaining.

  4. REALLY? What are you smokin… oh it’s BBC… right… They are just tossing shit of a fan to see how it splatters all over the place, because it’s what they do best.

You are seeing what you are seeing because of this:

EDIT: a better worded article: [https://ceenergynews.com/oil-gas/gazprom-loses-court-case-to-polands-pgnig-over-gas-pricing/](https://ceenergynews.com/oil-gas/gazprom-loses-court-case-to-polands-pgnig-over-gas-pricing/)

European courts themselves set this up. Not Russia.

Why is Russia not flooding the European market with gas? Come over and make a long term deal. Let us use pipelines to their full capacity.

You can also ask your American partners where their magical LNG is and why they are not flooding the European market. Oh yeah… they are selling to China where the prices are even higher because there are no multiple Russian pipelines there.

There is also the 3rd energy packet that Europe passed. Pipelines need to be only half full you say? OK.

We are literally following the rules Europe set. I have no idea what else you want us to do. You stabbed your own toe and somehow it’s our fault.

  5. Russia sells copious amounts of gas to Europe – “rUssIa WeApOnIzEs eNerGy”

Russia doesn’t sell enough gas to Europe – “RuSsIa wEaPoNiZeS EnErGy”

Can’t win with the Western media. Come to think of it, 5 years ago I would say that BBC was a decent news outlet. Now, it’s just yet another propaganda mouthpiece and their website has become indistinguishable from that of the Daily Mail.

  6. The EU built an entire military network to fend off Russia, while doing this, it has also decided to make itself vulnerable to the whims of the Russian energy sphere….. Can’t blame Russia for this one

  7. A mostly civil discussion and reasonable comments about something involving Russia in r/Europe? Never thought I would ever see that.

  8. Russia has met all of its long term contracts to the letter so far this year.

Russia is not ripping off the EU BY selling Spot deals at a massively increased market price.

Russia is opening its reserves to help supply the EU.

Russia will supply more gas in a more secure manner when NS2 opens.

America has done its damndest to break Russian supplies.

America will sell the EU all the LNG it needs at Market price while the price is high.

The EU and gas supply companies in the EU are responsible for filling the reserves and storage during summer when prices are low, they didnt do so this year.

And yet the Russians are the bad guys for sticking to the contracts and supplying the EU consistently.
