I wonder how much progress the EU has made for artillery shell production towards the 1 million, artillery shell goal for Ukraine. On August 12th, there was a report that the EU had sent [223,800](https://news.yahoo.com/less-quarter-planned-1-million-153800949.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall) artillery shells to Ukraine since March. I haven’t seen an update since then. I’ve read that some officials were skeptical about being able to achieve the 1 million, artillery shell goal this year.
Maybe the EU can purchase more artillery shells on the open market until EU production ramps up. However, I’m not sure that is allowed under the EU agreement. As I recall, France was adamant about the EU only paying for artillery shells that were manufactured in EU countries.
