Utterly coincidental that the financier of GBeebies is looking to buy up some of the Telegraph publications at auction and thus will be submitted to a “fit and proper owner” evaluation in the near future.
That’s a high bar, to appal the boss of GB News, I would imagine.
Of course he is.
And then breach of com rules in a different way today.
The statement should read: ‘I’m shocked and appalled by this entirely predictable happening between two people we employed fully knowing they would create outrage.’
What I can’t understand is they are champions of free speech, yet say this speech went too far. Well you either believe in free speech, or believe we aren’t free to say anything we damn well please. Mind you they also call themselves a news channel, so they are clearly confused.
It was bad, but no worse than these, where Ofcom did nothing.
In 2019 Jo Brand joked about throwing acid over Nigel Farage on the BBC – No further action.
In 2020 Sophie Dukes joked about killing white people on Frankie Boyle’s New World Order – No further action.
In 2020 Miriam Margolyes said she wanted Boris Johnson to die on live TV while he was seriously ill with COVID – No further action.
Ofcom could look at Newsnight this week where they had a panel of three competitors of GB News calling for it to be shut down, including Adam Boulton who is not exactly squeaky clean himself. He also said the quiet part out loud, wanting the channel to be shut down because they harm the MSM’s cosy club.
GB boss suddenly learns of the channel he runs, would be a better title than this lieing dross. He’s sad that they got called to task for American style, right wing punditry.
But wasn’t appalled by him calling gay men paedophiles without any justification?

The woman Fox insulted isn’t whiter than white either. Using offensive misandrist language and mocking male suicides.

Fox was wrong too, sack him and let’s move on.
