Sorry abou the dumb question but how do I remove this? Does it have a clip? Should I turn it to the side? It seems glued to the ceiling and when trying to remove it with a knife I am only damaging the ceiling, you can see the marks on it from me trying to remove it

There should be a tiny screw driver sized hole in the side, take your flat screwdriver, push it in and gently lift it off
If it’s a newer model it can be twisted off. Try that first, then use a flathead screwdriver
