This is the top comment in the Journal article about the yellow rain warning. Just a little snapshot of the kinds of comments that are allowed run rampant there these days, a lot of them coming from accounts with no names, just blank. And I’ve seen a lot worse there, as I’m sure everyone else has. Did the Journal do away with moderators? It’s an absolute cesspit there.

  1. How to have a good day: don’t read comments on the journal.

  2. Crystal Clear is probably a terminally online member of the Irish Freedom Party or a Russian troll farm.

  3. It pure trash. 32 people upvoted that xenophobic nonsense

  4. If I wanted the journal comment experience I would have just flushed my head in the toilet.

  5. It’s best to steer clear of that. I’m convinced people sit on that news site all day every day commenting and getting into fights with complete strangers and feeling they’ve made a difference . All the while probably not having a job and not contributing to society

  6. This must be some sort of grift or elaborate troll, spinning a figure of 75% women and children to be a sinister 25% men can only come from a place of dishonesty.

  7. And so fucking what? Men have just as much as a right to be a refugee as everyone else. This is such a bollocks narrative that they don’t and we need to get rid of it.

  8. It’s complete arse water of course but it”s a modern difficulty that society is struggling to deal with.
In the past headbangers like that commentator, assuming it’s a real person and not a bot, would have been sidelined to end of the bar in the local with mostly everyone avoiding the known gobshite. Or perhaps at best, having meetings with a very small number of like minded loons in some dingey shithole dreaming of glory.
Now with a multitude of avenues to spread their hate, they are finding not just those like minded gobshites that have always existed but they are finding more people open to their insanity and hate.

The difficulty for society as a whole now to address is why are so many more people open to the fringe views of those we had rightly sidelined in the past for their abhorrent views? Where is the rise in support coming from.

  9. I’d assume most of them would be elderly, as fighting age men aren’t allowed to leave

  10. The comment section went to shit when they did away with down-voting. It hasn’t been worth looking at since.

  11. Haven’t read the journal in a couple of years but I swear the comments used to be so pro-lockdown and pro-mask etc.. Interesting to see this change tbh

  12. It’s like they’re bursting for a piss, but instead of piss it’s fake nationalism.

  13. So the vast majority of them are Women and Children then? What point are you trying to make exactly?
And of that 25%, how many are too old to serve in combat? Suffer from a medical condition preventing them from serving? How many have a family that depends on them?

  14. The journal comments fairly give Twitter/X a run for it’s money, AND THAT’S saying something.

  15. The downvoting years ago pushed all this shite to the bottom – now anyone with a brain cell just ignores the comment irrelevant of their opinions

  16. Ever since the journal required posters to verify their email, it’s counterintuitively resulted in the biggest load of bollocks posted on any Irish news platform. Nothing but Russian bots, trolls and lads with their heads caved in. The days of thumbs up and down with civil conversations have long passed.

  17. If you go to a neo nazi website or conspiracy theory telegram group you’ll find dumb hateful content in those places too. It’s just about where you look. The journo is a shit stirring paper that gets its viewership from people who are too narrow minded to consider any position other than their own, it then agrees with them and creates a safe space that those people will want to come back to because “all da udder papers is lies”. Its like complaining cartoon network is full of kids content and wondering why adults don’t watch it.

  18. It’s not just don’t read the comments on the journal… it’s don’t read the journal. By removing the downvote, they give these fuckwads an echo chamber.

  19. Few things to consider here. First off, and most importantly, Ukraine’s conscription policies are none of our business – Ukrainians are eligible for Temporary Protection, regardless of gender. Syrian men are also vulnerable to conscription, we don’t say they shouldn’t be here because of that. In fact, we say the opposite. Of course, Assad and the Ukrainian government are not the same, but the principle stands. That is the main point. Everything else is secondary, but we’ll go through it anyway. About 20% of Ukraine is occupied, meaning Ukrainian men in those areas are subject to forced recruitment into Russian forces, or face detention and torture as suspected partisans. They simply HAVE to leave, and they can’t cross the frontline into Ukrainian territory. They exit via Russia and Belarus, and end up in Europe. Now you could argue that at that point they could re-enter Ukraine and enlist, but go back to point one: It’s not our concern. Next point: There are many, many exemptions to conscription: If you have enough children (I believe it’s three or more), or if you are medically exempt – which is a huge amount of people. The war is over 500 days old, there are men who have already fought in the war and are now demobilised – I have met one such man in Ireland. And also, there are men who dodged conscription because they were afraid of getting blown to pieces. They are here also. Are you in a position to judge? I’m not. And, again, it’s none of our fucking business. Regardless of gender, we have recognised that Ukraine is not safe, and we have opened our borders to refugees.

  20. Cant believe noones pointed out this pleb cant count 😂if 25% are men what proportion does he think women are, what about the other 75% 🤣

  21. The other 75% are lgbtqi transgender trying to convert our kids!!! Let harras some TD’s now!!!!

/s (for everyone who didn’t notice the sarcasm)

  22. I worked in 2 doctors clinics, sometimes they are receiving medical treatment.
