  1. Today is a sad anniversary. A year ago, I received the dreadful news I fear the most. Russia bombed our humanitarian convoy in Zaporizhzhia. Our two drivers survived, but all eight evacuees, including an 8-year-old, a 3-year-old, and their mother, lost their lives.     We all understand the risks, and so did the evacuees. Yet, it’s challenging to grapple with the remorse of whether more could have been done. There is an overwhelming guilt that lingers, regardless of the level of preparation and prevention taken when people pass away under your charge.

    Despite facing fuel challenges and limited resources, we continue to evacuate people from occupied areas (each costing us $300), providing them with water and food in areas near the frontlines. We hold on to hope for a better future.
