I am a tourist in Romania and recently visited Peles Castle and saw this sculpted on the staircase. Not sure if there is any backstory/history to it, but it looks very disturbing..any comments??

Probably regfering to serfdom and how it was abolished.
It’s people on chains, usually shown to symbolize Power of the owner of the castle in times B.C. but you should ask this question in a group about sculptures or art, assuming that the average romanian doesn’t have a PhD in Art History etc.
Means you’re lucky you got out!
