  1. £20m over 10 years to 55 towns. So £2m a year per town.

It’s not nothing, and I’m sure it’ll be warmly appreciated. But I don’t think this matches the scale of ambition that “Levelling up” suggested in 2019.

  2. TL;DR: he is mostly funding the places that his party has reps in.

  3. Never mind that their council funding being gutted over the past decade has meant they had to cut services and are all in precarious financial situations anyway. “Levelling up” on a problem of their making, so they can buy votes

    > but most of it is going to constituencies held by Conservative MPs.

    > And of those which are held by Labour MPs, many have small majorities, including those held by senior members of Sir Keir Starmer’s shadow cabinet.

    Like that

  4. Whatever happened to Levelling up 1.0? I’m old enough to remember the fuckers banging on about this a couple of years ago.

  5. Isn’t this the guy that boasted about diverting funds from poor areas to wealthy ones?

  6. Phew! Now my local council is getting 18 quid they’re going to be able to reinstate all the services they had to cut. Yay!

  7. Is this on top of the money they lost when we left the EU? Maybe in Tory areas that were already pretty well off.

  8. Wow, a whole 1bn. That’s going to do….absolutely fuck all.
