This is actually nothing new or out of the ordinary. It’s a regular twice-a-year conscription that has been happening this way for decades in Russia. There was a similar one in April, and in October last year, and so on.

Some of them will likely be forced to sign contracts or get thrown into the meat grinder, but generally speaking, the majority of conscripts won’t be fighting on the front. Conscripts fighting in the war was a very unpopular thing with the population, and the presidential elections are coming up very soon.
Russia must be defeated completely otherwise this will just go on until there are no Ukrainians left. Russians don’t care for themselves, Putin doesn’t care for them, there will be no peace until they are defeated.
