I’ve thought that many times sitting in the purgatory of a wait when you’re in hospital and your cuts heal naturally before a doctor can even come see you.
HSE is visible because it’s so public facing. Most/all Irish government run departments work like this. They are slow and even resistant to adopt technology and automation.
The plans for the introduction of electronic health records at a cost of almost €900m were stalled in 2019, with the Government refusing to fund the transition until after the new children’s hospital is complete.
The fact their’s still so much manual processes is down to one very specific reason that nobody wants to mention. Everyone knows what it is, too.
