It’s one of the biggest differences between Johnson and Sunak. Johnson always promised a sunnier future (obviously he didn’t give a shit about lying).
A lot of voters just want that.
All swing voters are going to vote for whoever is closet to the political beliefs, otherwise they wouldn’t be swing voters. Not everyone in the country is a diehard red, blue or yellow.
There is no fucking “green industry”.
We’ve spent billions on solar, and what solar industry do we have? Do we make panels, inverters or even the rails that bolt them to the roof? Nope, but we have enriched a load of fly by night ex double glazing salesmen.
Wind? Nope – that’s all Norwegian or Danish. We do installation.
Electric cars – again no, they’re all American, Korean or Chinese. The European car industry is about to be destroyed by Chinese electric cars.
Are we going to “train” a load of people to do a shit job of insulating houses? Ah of course, it’s all about fitting Korean heat pumps into unsuitable houses.
With hindsight, one of the few good things about the Boris regime was the slow crawl towards net zero. A lot more could have been done, of course, but I for one was looking forward to the new car ban in 2030 and I was relieved that there wouldn’t be any fracking allowed in my district.
Regardless of which political party you support, I reckon there aren’t many folk out there who *wouldn’t* want their air quality to improve, or who want sewage dumped into the rivers and sea.

Sunak’s ‘green retreat’ is so disappointing.
